Abba Urban
Small enterprises – lasting impact.
Abba Urban focuses on practical micro-enterprise initiatives that create opportunity within urban communities. Projects such as Abba Urban Chickens equip local entrepreneurs with skills, resources, and training to build small businesses that generate income while strengthening local food systems. These initiatives demonstrate how small, community-led enterprises can create meaningful economic change.
We do things differently...
The Urban Chicken model allows underserved communities to farm chickens for meat and eggs, and provides a source of protein in their diets. It also gives chicken farmers the opportunity to sell eggs for additional income. This restores dignity and supports health and well-being. It starts as a small-scale Abba farm, with the potential to grow bigger over time. Our goal is to assist 100 farmers per year. We buy feed in bulk and sell to the farmers at a reasonable price. We also want to train the community to build chicken houses, which can also be sold for profit.
